What's a blog? To be honest, when I first heard the word I had no idea. And then when I discovered it's people talking about what they've been up to, I thought 'how weird!' But then I started reading one about sewing and the penny dropped.....there are people out there like me, who are interested in sewing, and who have found an entire world of people to learn from, share with and enjoy looking forward to the next updates.
Now I have to say, most blogs I've seen seem to be pretty professional....great photo's and words that scream out to be read. I don't have the faintest idea how to reach those levels but I do hope that by posting a few words every now and then that some of you readers, if there are any, may have some hints and tips to get me on track.
So where to begin? Well, I have made a few things in the past, but only one dress I could ever bring myself to wear in public, and even then I find myself not moving too quickly in case the too tight arm holes cut in even more, or the stitches holding the straps in place burst. If I knew how to blog properly, I'd share a photo with you now to show you what I mean but I have absolutely no idea how to do so yet.
Every month I buy Sew magazine and get excited at the outstanding possibilities for my limited fabric stash....and I do genuinely intend to settle in front of the machine to try creating a copy, but somehow I get a mental block and the creative juices I imagine I possess when I'm reading the mag just evaporate when faced with the real thing.
Hence the name of my first ever blog......Starting out. I want so badly to be as good as the many talented bloggers I've been watching but really have no idea where to begin. I guess it will have to be learning how to upload photos first then hoping for someone to stumble across my blog and spend a few moments reading it, and hopefully helping me on my way.
So, here's to new beginnings and lots of help along the way!
